The Max. Total Stake option allows you to enter the maximum total amount that you wish to stake on your bet. The Free Bet Calculator then calculates the highest Unit Stake that should be entered onto your bookmaker’s betting slip in order to remain within your spending limit.

The Number of Selections value is automatically updated when you switch between different bet types, if the current value is less than the minimum required for the type of bet. This value can be increased in order to create perms or, in the case of Accumulators, to simply extend the size of the Accumulator. The maximum number of selections that can be specified for any bet is 20, although Alphabet & Union Jack bets can not be permed so their values are therefore fixed.

The Each Way Multiple option determines how the return from each selection, for a bet consisting of two or more selections, should be split to provide the stake for the next selection.

The Each Way Any To Come option determines how the return from the first selection in an Any To Come bet, should be split to provide the stake for the second selection.

Bets such as the Round Robin contain both Multiple and Any To Come components, which the majority of bookmakers will settle as Win-to-Win, Place-to-Place for the Multiple components, and Equally Divided for the Any To Come components (when the return is insufficient to cover both the win & place stakes in full). Unfortuntely this is not a universal convention, so if the Free Bet Calculator appears to be settling this type of bet incorrectly, then you may need to consult your bookmaker’s rules to determine which convention they use.

Bets which may pay a bonus or consolation, such as Lucky 15, must be settled as Win-to-Win, Place-to-Place for the bonus or consolation to apply. Bonuses and consolations are not applicable to Equally Divided each way bets.

The Accumulator Fold Size automatically reflects changes to the Number of Selections value in the bet Options, but if you wish to perm Accumulator bets then this value should be reduced to the appropriate fold size. For example to perm 4-Folds from 6 selections, set the Number of Selections to 6, and then reduce the Accumulator Fold Size to 4.

The Lucky Bet Bonuses and Consolations offered by different bookmakers vary, so you may need to change the bonus percentage, and consolation odds multiplier, to reflect those offered by your bookmaker.

All selections must run for a bonus or consolation to apply. Bonuses and consolations only apply to the win part of Win-to-Win, Place-to-Place each way bets, and are not applicable to Equally Divided each way bets.

The Dead Heat Total represents the total number of participants that finish in the same position. In the event of a double dead heat you should enter 2, and in the (unlikely) event of a triple dead heat you should enter 3.

The Dead Heat Position only applies to Each Way bets, and represents the finishing position for the dead heat. If the dead heat is for first place then you should enter 1, if the dead heat is for second place then you should enter 2, etc.

The Dead Heat Places only applies to Each Way bets, and represents the number of places being offered by your bookmaker for the event in which your selection is taking part.

This option is only relevant if you have backed the Unnamed Favourite when more than one favourite has been declared, and is not applicable to Each Way bets.

The Joint Favourite Total simply represents the total number of joint favourites (more accurately termed Co-favourites if there are more than two).

The Joint Favourite Winners represents the number of favourites that won the race. This will normally be 1, since a value of 0 indicates that your selection did not win and so should have a status of Lost. This value will only exceed 1 if joint favourites are involved in a dead heat for first place.

The Joint Favourite Non Runners represents any favourites withdrawn shortly before the runners come under starter’s orders.
